Knitting - Headband

Are you interested in knitting, and bored of making the same things over and over again? Well, why not give this a go? This comfy thick headband will keep your ears warm on cold and windy winter days, as well as keeping your hair out of your face.


Size
This headband can be made in different sizes. For larger sizes, you just knit a longer strip. The different lengths are given in the pattern.

Materials

- About 25 yards (23m) of bulky weight yarn/wool, such as Patons Homespun, King Cole, or Lion Brand in bulky weight: 10% mohair, 5% wool, 85% acrylic. Examples of colours that you can use are: 3256 (cream) and 3579 (sand). However, you can also try out any other colourful yarn of your choice, as long as it provides the same gauge.
- A pair of size 10 ½ knitting needles

Gauge

14 stitches to 4 inches (10cm) over garter stitch on size 10 ½ needles

Pattern

1. Cast on 10 stitches and knit every row until your work measures:
- To fit someone aged 7-10 years old: 16 inches (41cm)
- Ages 11 - 14: 17 inches (43cm)
- Ages 16 – adult size small: 18 inches (46cm)
- Adult size medium: 19 inches (48cm)
- Adult size large: 20 inches (51cm)
2. Bind off

Finishing

Overcast the short ends together and darn in the loose ends. Put it on and go play in the snow!
