Eyesight and Hearing

Your eyes and ears are probably the most important exterior parts of your body that you need to take care of. Without your eyes, you will not be able to read the AFMag. Without your ears, you will not be able to listen to what the little birds are singing. It is important to keep them in tiptop shape.
Your Eyesight
As you grow, your eyeballs expand. Hence, your eyesight worsens.
That is the most basic reasoning that is developed by optometrists. However, there are other factors as well. It could just be genetics–your parents have bad eyesight.
But, there are factors that we can control:
- Read and write in an area with good lighting
- Don’t spend long hours sitting in front of the computer or sitting in front of the TV
- Wear your glasses when you need to–don’t squint!
Your Hearing

Ears are ears. Your eardrums are probably wearing out from listening to that iPod. In fact, recent studies show that many teenagers have ear tissues that are already shriveled up. Those ear tissues are not supposed to look like that until they are at least 50 years old. What happened?
Controllable factors that are not being controlled:
- Your headphones or speakers are on too loud–your eardrums are bursting!
- People yelling in your ears too often
- You are ALWAYS in an extremely noisy environment
If you hear a ringing sound in your ears after taking off your headphones/speakers, it implies that you have already reached the limit. That’s when you need to stop, or else it would pose a risk to your eardrums.
Yes, all of these you can control. But, it’s up to you whether you want to control it or not.
